Seven Dominican Friars Professed Solemn Vows
February 12, 2024
Seven of our brothers recently professed Solemn Vows, fully committing the whole of their lives to God through our Dominican way of life.
In his homily at the Mass, our Prior Provincial, Fr. Allen Moran, O.P., spoke about a certain path that the brothers were choosing, a path that can only be had by the full giving of one’s life. A path that imitates Christ in his poverty, chastity, and obedience.
This path is choosing the things of God. It’s a life of prayer, study, and contemplation, so that, as a Dominican friar, he can bear fruit through his preaching for the salvation of souls.
Fr. Allen said this path is not always self-evident, so he urged the brothers who were making solemn profession to follow those who have gone before them—first, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the patroness of the Dominican Order, then St. Dominic, and St. Thomas Aquinas. And also to follow the brothers living and deceased in this province. “It is a communal road,” he said, “and this path is best walked with the shoes of humility.”
