Reception of the Habit and Simple Profession of Vows

On August 8, ten men were vested in the holy habit of St. Dominic. The Novices were vested in the house chapel at St. Gertrude’s Priory before attending a parish mass to celebrate the feast of St. Dominic. These men come from nine different states and have met Dominicans through our parishes, campus ministries, and Thomistic Institute conferences, as well as through reading the works of St. Thomas Aquinas.
One week later, on August 15, fourteen novices from the Province of St. Joseph made their simple vows at St. Gertrude’s Church. Following the profession mass and lively reception, the newly professed friars were able to enjoy a short home visit before traveling to Washington, D.C. to continue their formation at the Dominican House of Studies.
