Man and Woman in the Mystery of Christ: Advent Retreat at the Dominican House of Studies

November 28, 2014

On December 6, 2014, the St. Thomas Apostle Young Adults from St. Thomas Apostle Parish in Washington, DC will sponsor an Advent Retreat at the Dominican House of Studies. Young adults from the Washington, DC area are welcome to come for an afternoon of prayer, reflection, and fellowship. This retreat will explore the example that Mary and Joseph provide for us as Christians. Guided by the teaching of Pope Francis and the Gospel, we will consider Mary and Joseph as exemplars of masculinity and femininity, and consider how the mystery of humanity is revealed to us in Jesus Christ. We will explore how Mary and Joseph teach us about the mystery and dignity of men and women as we try to be better human beings and disciples of Christ. We will meditate on how Christ reveals the mystery of humanity, seeing what Christ in his humanity and divinity helps us to understand about the human condition and our privileged sharing in the grace of God. The retreat will include Mass, food and fellowship, Adoration, talks by a Dominican friar and a Dominican sister, and time for silence as well as small group discussion. Date & Time: December 6, 2014. 12:00-6:00pm; Activities include Mass, pizza lunch, and talks by Br. Innocent Smith, O.P. and Sister Mary Madeline, O.P.
