Dominicans and the Third Annual Magnificat Day

November 24, 2014

Fr. Peter John Cameron, OP was a keynote speaker at the third annual Magnificat Day, this year held on All Saints’ Day in Memphis, TN. The event was sponsored by Lumen Civitatis and the Magnificat Foundation and included an address by Fr. Robert Barron and music from the Memphis Symphony. Eight Dominicans from the Province of St. Joseph heard confessions throughout the day. Fr. Romanus Cessario, OP serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Magnificat Foundation. The entire day was broadcast live by EWTN. Previous Magnificat Days have been in Philadelphia, PA (2013) and Orange Country, CA (2012). The Magnificat Foundation prospectus describes the purpose of these annual Magnificat Days: “The Magnificat Foundation produces a series of Magnificat Days in communities across the country, modeled on the format of the Preached Missions that began in the United States during the nineteenth century. We offer every Catholic in United States the chance to experience through Magnificat Days the beauty, goodness and truth of our faith. Magnificat Days bring thousands of people together from all walks of life to experience a personal and spiritual renewal, exposing them to the best of Catholic life through art, evangelization, lectures, music and prayer. Our goal is to energize the faithful and reignite the faith of those who have become separated from the church so that they will in turn attract others back into the fold, participating in the new evangelization.” The address of Fr. Peter John Cameron, OP and Fr. Robert Barron are available online and you can find out more information about the event on the Lumen Civitatis and Magnificat Foundation websites.
