Requiescat in pace: Br. Jude Locchetto, OP (1933—2014)

October 31, 2014

It is the custom of the Province to read out the names of our deceased brethren and pray the De Profundis (Psalm 130) the evening before the anniversary of their deaths. With his passing on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, Br. Jude Locchetto, OP, will now be remembered on the eve of his patronal feast, Ss. Simon and Jude (October 28). Br. Jude Locchetto, OP made simple profession as a cooperator brother in the Order of Preachers in 1952. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Br. Jude spent most of his life at Sacred Heart Parish in Jersey City, NJ. His ministries included working as community chef and as teaching CCD in the parish. When the Dominicans moved from Sacred Heart Parish in 2004, Br. Jude was assigned to St. Dominic’s Priory in Washington, DC, where he frequently regaled the student brothers who visited with sundry tales and hilarious anecdotes from his time in the Order. In 2012, Br. Jude celebrated his sixtieth anniversary of religious profession, making him the oldest professed cooperator brother in the Province of St. Joseph. Eternal rest grant unto your servant, Jude, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.  May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace.  Amen.
