Death, Dying, and the Christian Response
August 7, 2014
Austin Dominic Litke, O.P., recently wrote an article for Fare Forward about the troublesome prospect of death—our own and others’—and what the Christian understanding of that event can be. Fr. Austin’s article can be found here. The article, using Cardinal Ratzinger’s Eschatology, the writings of St. Paul, the works of Paul Claudel, and a variety of other sources, explores this difficult topic in its contemporary context, dealing with issues of medical ethics and what it means to prepare for death. Fr. Austin has most recently served as assistant campus minister at New York University, and is about to begin a doctorate in patristic theology at the Augustinianum in Rome.
