February 18, 2014

The Thomistic Institute has recently made available an audio recording of Msgr. Robert Sokolowski’s January 30 lecture, “The Truth of Things in Words and Pictures.” Click here to listen. Msgr. Sokolowski spoke to an overflow crowd on fundamental matters relating to how humans learn, recognize, know, and communicate the truth to each other, and what we can learn from studying the different ways mirrors, pictures, and words represent reality. He spoke with his characteristic clarity and wit, rendering even the most abstruse points comprehensible to his large and diverse audience. Msgr. Sokolowski is a world-renowned philosopher, especially in the field of phenomenology. He has written nearly a dozen books and more than a hundred articles on a wide variety of subjects; his books The God of Faith and Reason and Introduction to Phenomenology promise to be enduring classics in their fields. The Thomistic Circles are an annual cycle of conferences designed to help renew in the Church today a sense of the perennial importance of the thought of Thomas Aquinas, the Angelic doctor. The aim of the Thomistic Circles conferences is to bring together scholars of the highest level to present with clarity and insight the wisdom of Aquinas, in dialogue with one another, and in response to modern problems and questions. The Thomistic Circles conferences are usually offered bi-annually in both the Spring and Fall semesters.
