A Guide to Happiness

January 13, 2014

If you sit ten people in a room and ask them what it means to be happy, and how they can get there, expect at least ten different answers. And then if you ask those people to debate the pros and cons of each proposal, expect ten very unhappy people to leave the room after the smoke has cleared. But perhaps there is another way of approaching the question of happiness, one that can be valid and meaningful for every individual, and not just for those who are emotionally or psychologically predisposed to it. This is the challenging claim that Fr. Thomas Joseph White, O.P., will address in his talk “A Guide to Happiness: The Promise of Thomism in the Modern Church” on Wednesday, January 15, as part of the Catholic Information Center’s Young Professionals Program. The talk will begin at 6:00 P.M. at the Catholic Information Center (1501 K Street NW, Washington, DC). Admission is $15, including food and drinks. Young adults in the D.C. area between the ages of 21 and 35 are invited to attend. More information about the event can be found here, or on Facebook.
