The Affordable Care Act and the Catholic Church

In the past few months, as the presidential election has continued to draw to a conclusion, Fr. Ezra Sullivan, O.P., has visited parishes around the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and spoken about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, known more popularly as “Obamacare”. In these various talks, he has particularly been asked to speak about the HHS Mandate, and the drastic effects it will have on religious freedom and, in particular, the freedom to practice the Catholic faith without government interference.
