The Feast of Saint Catherine of Siena

As part of its continuing commitment to Health Care, The Dominican Friars Health Care Ministry of New York will host the Sixth Annual Mass honoring Men and Women of the Health Care Professions. The celebration will take place on Monday, 30 April 2012, during the Noon Mass at the Church of Saint Catherine of Siena, 411 East 68th Street, Manhattan. His Eminence, Donald Cardinal Wuerl of Washington, D.C., will be the Principal Celebrant and Homilist. Since its establishment in 2006, the Dominican Friars Health Care Ministry of New York has bestowed the Saint Catherine of Siena Award upon those who have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to health care through excellence in leadership, education, and distinguished service as a Catholic – Health Care – Professional. Former recipients include: Dr. Edmund Pellegrino; Dr. William Hurlbut, MD; Sr. Carol Keehan, DC; Dr. Thomas Fahey; Mother Agnes Mary Donovan, SV; and His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan. This year’s Saint Catherine Siena Award will be given to His Eminence Donald Cardinal Wuerl of Washington, D.C. and Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sister Elaine Goodell, a member of the chaplaincy staff at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Included in this year’s celebration will be the announcement of the establishment of the Saint Catherine of Siena Chair in Health Care Ethics at the Pontifical Faculty of Theology of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C.
