Nicholas Lombardo, O.P., Assistant Professor of Historical and Systematic Theology at the Catholic University of America, speaking at The Lumen Christi Institute in Chicago on “Aquinas on the Intentionality of the Passions”. Fr Nicholas Lombardo is a Dominican priest of the Eastern Province, USA. After studying philosophy at Brown University and theology at the Dominican House of Studies, he served for a few years at St Gertrude’s Parish in Cincinnati, Ohio. He then resumed his study of theology and received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in 2010. He engaged in research as a visiting fellow at the University of Fribourg before coming to The Catholic University of America in the fall of 2011. His past research has focused on Thomas Aquinas and especially his philosophy and theology of the emotions. More recently he has been working on the theology of redemption, with particular attention to patristic theology and its contemporary applications. In his research, he often draws on contemporary analytic philosophy to address theological topics. His current research interests include various topics in philosophical and systematic theology, especially the Trinity, redemption, and divine providence.
