Dominican Rite Training Sessions in Washington, DC

October 20, 2011

On October 19th and 20th, Fr. Pius Pietrzyk, O.P., offered several training sessions for the celebration of the Dominican rite at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC. The training sessions included demonstrations of the words and gestures of the priest and server for the private form of the Dominican rite, known as the Low Mass. During the presentations, Fr. Pius emphasized the pastoral dimension of learning to say the Dominican rite in order to respond to the legitimate requests of the faithful for the celebration of the Extraordinary Form of the Mass. In addition to the formal training sessions, the friars had the opportunity to participate in the Low Mass. To learn more about the Dominican rite, you may consult the Province of St. Joseph’s Dominican Rite Online Tutorial, which presents videos and texts which explain the celebration of the Dominican Rite Low Mass, read a Q&A on Universae Ecclesiae and the Dominican Rite, or visit the Dominican Liturgy blog.
