Dvorak’s 170th Birthday: Dominican Archbishop Celebrates Mass in Honor of Dvořák and St. John Neumann

On September 25, 2011, Archbishop Dominik Duka, O.P., celebrated Mass in the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine in honor of Dvořák’s 170th Birthday and the 200th anniversary of the birth of John Nepomucene Neumann, Archbishop of Philadelphia. For the Ordinary of the Mass, the Basilica Choir sang Dvořák’s Mass in D Major, “Lužanská.” Archbishop Duka was ordained a priest in 1970. He was appointed Bishop of Hradec Králové in 1998 by Bl. John Paul II, and was appointed Archbishop of Prague by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010.
