Our Lady’s Month, the Rosary & Your Vocation
May 14, 2011
It was 30 years ago today that Blessed John Paul II was shot in St. Peter’s Square in Rome. Our Lady directly interceded; when Bl. John Paul II returned to Fatima to give thanks, he placed the recovered bullet into the crown of Mary’s statue where it remains today!

During this month of May as we reflect on our Blessed Mother and how she draws us to her Son, the Most Holy Rosary is key to increasing our love and devotion to God. In God’s providence, a benefactor has donated copies of the Catholic classic, The Secret of the Rosary by St. Louis de Montfort, so that I might distribute it to the young men discerning Dominican vocations with us. I know a number of you have already read it. If you have not, I would be happy to send it to you (let me know).
Back when I was discerning a vocation in college, I remember how Our Lady & praying the Rosary were very instrumental for me in finding the courage to respond to God’s call in my life. My own Dominican vocation began in a very strong way through praying the Rosary. Our Lady drew me close to her Son and helped me to have a deeper love for Christ’s True Presence in the Eucharist.
Finally I would like to recommend this new video, where our own Fr. Peter John Cameron OP (Editor of Magnificat), speaks on on EWTN about Our Lady & his new book, Mysteries of the Virgin Mary. In the video, he mentions what St. Louis de Montfort says about Our Lady.
