Magnificat Day in Philadelphia

November 11, 2013

In collaboration with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, the Magnificat Foundation held a Magnificat Day in Philadelphia on Saturday, November 9, 2013, to celebrate the graces of the Year of Faith with a day of prayer, beauty, and preaching. More than three thousand people were in attendance. The day’s events included a rich selection of sacred music performed on period instruments, notably featuring passages from Handel’s Messiah, as well as sung morning, midday, and evening prayer. There were also keynote addresses from Fr. Robert Barron, author of the Catholicism series, and Fr. Peter John Cameron, O.P., editor-in-chief of Magnificat. The day concluded with a Eucharistic procession from the Pennsylvania Convention Center to the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, with benediction on the steps of the Cathedral. The event was covered live on ETWN; the coverage will be available in DVD format soon. A complete program of the day can be found here. Those interested in learning more about the Magnificat Days can visit their website, as well as the website of the Magnificat Foundation.
