About Our Review Board

The Dominican Province of St. Joseph has established a review board consisting of volunteer men and women with a wide variety of expertise and experiences. At most, two members of the review board may be members of the Province, and none may be employees or contractors of the province. Typically, the members include attorneys, retired law enforcement agents, psychologists and social workers who worked with victims, victims of child sexual abuse, and a parishioner who is a parent.

Every aspect of our child protection efforts, including each complaint received, is reviewed by the provincial review board. The review board has access to all documents related to every complaint received and ensures that the Provinces complies with civil law, the law of the Church, the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, the standards of the Conference of Major Superiors of Men, and our Provincial policies.

Accreditation Status

Our child protection efforts are reviewed by Praesidium Religious Services, Inc., an outside audit service. The accreditation process includes onsite inspections, interviews of Provincial leadership and members, reviews of records for screening and child protection training, and reviews of every complaint received since the last accreditation.

On April 3, 2024, the Province of St. Joseph was reaccredited by Praesidium Religious Services for five years, having met all 20 Standards and 95 criteria with no corrections on notations.
