Fr. Allen Moran, O.P., Reelected Prior Provincial

The Province of St. Joseph began it’s Provincial Chapter today by reelecting the Very Reverend Allen Moran, O.P., as the prior provincial. The Master of the Order confirmed his election, so he begins his second term. Fr. Allen was first elected provincial in 2023 and his new term will end in June 2030.

The Chapter, which is meeting in Providence, R.I. on the campus of Providence College, is meeting of friars held every four years to make decisions for the province and elect key officials of the province.

Joining Fr. Allen in the governance of the Province are 6 diffinitors also elected by the Chapter. Frs. James Sullivan, James Cuddy, Bruno Shah, Jordan Schmidt, Boniface Endorf, and John Paul Kern, O.P., will help the Provincial make appointments of the next few weeks and then become part the Provincial Council that assists him of the course of the four years.

“I am thankful to my Dominican brothers for their confidence and trust, and I accept this responsibility relying on God’s grace and the support of the brethren,” Fr. Allen said. “As we begin this new term together, I pray that we may continue to grow in fraternity, fidelity to our Dominican vocation, and zeal for preaching the Gospel.”

Pray for Fr. Allen and the continued work of the Chapter.

Meetings will resume on Monday.
