Groundbreaking for St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish
May 15, 2018
On Monday, May 14, the Dominican Friars of St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish in Charlottesville, VA were joined by Bishop Barry Knestout of the Diocese of Richmond and the Very Reverend Kenneth R. Letoile, O.P., for the groundbreaking of their new parish church. The new church will have seating capacity for 1200, and will elevate the hearts and minds of the students and parishioners through its beautiful architecture.
The groundbreaking ceremony included the Blessing of the Foundation Stone:
Father, the prophet Daniel spoke of your Son, as a stone wondrously hewn from a mountain. The apostle Paul spoke of him, as a stone firmly founded. Bless this foundation stone to be laid in Christ’s name. You appointed him the beginning and end of all things. May this work begin, continue, and be brought to fulfillment in him, for he is Lord for ever and ever. Amen.
May the ministry of the Dominican friars at St. Thomas Aquinas continue to build on the foundation stone of Christ!
