A New Dominican Christmas Album: Christ was Born to Save

December 11, 2016

With carols new and old, the friars of the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C., celebrate Christmas with their fourth album, Christ Was Born to Save, available on iTunes, as a CD, or in MP3 format. The music of this album, recorded in the resonant acoustic of Washington’s Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land and covered by EWTN News Nightly, proclaims the reason that God took on our humanity by being born as a child in Bethlehem: to save us from sin and death and to fit us for heaven. Blackfriars Media created a music video from behind the scenes footage for the new album:

Offering a wide variety of sacred music, Christ Was Born to Save features polyphony, chants from the Church’s liturgy, and Christmas favorites such as “Away in a Manger,” “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” and “Silent Night.”  Proceeds from the sale of this album support the Dominican students in Washington, D.C.
