Sylvester Willoughby, O.P., Receives Award from Cardinal Wuerl
February 13, 2014
Sylvester Willoughby, O.P., recently received a “Manifesting the Kingdom” award from Cardinal Donald Wuerl of the Archdiocese of Washington, in recognition of his exceptional service to the local church. Fr. Willoughby recently concluded many years of chaplain service with the N.S.A. and is currently in his sixty-fifth year of priesthood. A Washington, D.C., native, Fr. Willoughby is the oldest friar in religion in the Province of St. Joseph. Indefatigable in his service to the local church and in his devotion to the Mass, Fr. Willoughby remains active in various ministries around the D.C. area. More than two hundred individuals were honored with the “Manifesting the Kingdom” award this January; that event was the second time that Cardinal Wuerl has honored members of the faithful in the Archdiocese of Washington since he became Archbishop in 2006.
