Beauty and the Real

The Catholic Artists Society has made the full text of Alice Ramos’ December 14 lecture on the nature of beauty available for reading here. The talk was the fourth installment in the Art of the Beautiful series, co-sponsored by the Thomistic Institute and the Catholic Artists Society. The audio of the first talk by Gregory Wolfe of Image Journal, entitled “Art: For Whose Sake?” is available here, the second talk by Fr. Peter John Cameron, O.P., entitled “The Responsibility of the Artist,” is available here, and the third talk by David Clayton, entitled “Forming the Artist,” is available here. The fifth talk in the series will be given by Professor Anthony Esolen of Providence College on January 25 at 7:30 P.M. at the NYU Catholic Center at 238 Thompson St., NY, NY, followed by Compline. He will speak on “Love and Artistic Genesis.” The event is free and open to the public.
