Celebrating the Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas

March 4, 2013

Solemn-Mass-Dominican-RiteBefore the liturgical reforms of the Second Vatican Council, the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas was held on March 7 each year.  With the former Holy Father’s generous permission for the use of the extraordinary form, the Dominican Order is now able to celebrate that feast according to the long-standing traditional liturgical rites of the Order of Preachers.  Taking advantage of the generosity of the former Pontiff, the university parish of St. Thomas Aquinas in Charlottesville, VA, will celebrate its patron saint with a Missa Cantata on the Feast of St. Thomas according to the Dominican Rite.  The Mass will be on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 5:15pm.  The Preacher for the Mass will be Fr. Andrew Hofer, OP, Instructor in Patristics and Ancient Languages at the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception, and the current Master of Students of the Province of St. Joseph.  All are welcome to attend.
