Praying for our Deceased Brethren

November 9, 2012

On Sunday, November 4th, the Friars of the Priory of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., made their annual visit to the Dominican plot at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mount Olivet is the burial place for Friars who die at the Priory of the Immaculate Conception or the Priory of St. Dominic. It is the custom of the Friars to visit to and pray for their deceased brethren in this month of November, which is dedicated to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. In addition, the Order has designated November 8th as the day on which we especially remember the deceased friars and sisters of the Order of Preachers.  This year’s visit also involved a walking pilgrimage, in which some of the Friars walked to and from the Cemetery. Pictures of the walking pilgrimage and the visit at the cemetery follow. Especially in this month of November, please keep in your prayers the repose of the souls of all deceased Dominicans. May they rest in peace.
