The Dominican Rite in Washington, DC

On September 27th, a Votive Mass of the Most Holy Eucharist was celebrated in the Main Chapel of the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC. The Mass was celebrated according to the Dominican Rite, the extraordinary form of Mass of the Dominican Order. The Mass was sung and preached by Fr. Pius Pietrzyk, O.P., with music provided by the Dominican Schola under the direction of Fr. James Moore, O.P. The Chapel was full of friars, friends, and visitors for the Mass, one of only a few Dominican Rite Masses to occur on the East Coast in recent decades. The friars were also pleased to welcome a contingent of midshipmen from the Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland dressed, fittingly enough, in their white service uniforms.
