Fortnight for Freedom: St. Patrick’s Church, Columbus

During the Fortnight for Freedom (June 21–July 4), called for by the bishops of the United States, St. Patrick’s Parish in Columbus, OH (280 N. Grant Ave) will sponsor several events to give the faithful the opportunity to learn more about and pray for the protection of religious liberty. Thursday, June 21, 8:00 pm — “Freedom!” A lecture by Fr. John Corbett, O.P., hosted by the St. Patrick’s 20s group; preceded by a holy hour beginning at 7 pm in the Church. Friday, June 22, 7pm: Solemn Vespers for the Feast of St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher; pray the Liturgy of the Hours with the Dominican Friars in the presence of a relic of St. Thomas More, patron saint of lawyers and politicians. All Night Adoration Vigil follows. Wednesday, July 4, 10:00 am: Mass for the Feast of Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati. To conclude our observance of the Fortnight for Freedom, we will celebrate the feast of Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati, a lay Dominican who is an exemplar of authentic freedom in Christ, offering a special Mass for our nation on Independence Day. Throughout the Fortnight for Freedom, a relic of St. Thomas More, patron saint of lawyers and politicians, will be present in the baptismal gallery of St. Patrick’s Church.
