Join the Dominicans for a Seven Church Pilgrimage
March 27, 2012
This weekend (in addition to our vocation weekend), our student brothers will be participating on Saturday, March 31, together with young adults from the Washington, DC area, in a pilgrimage to seven historic churches in the city, including the Dominican parish, St. Dominic’s, in South West, where the pilgrims will chant Mid-Morning Prayer. The Seven Church Walk is modeled on the tradition instituted by St. Philip Neri of visiting the four Major Basilicas and three minor Basilicas of Rome. The DC pilgrimage was started nine years ago by a group of young adults in the Archdiocese of Washington as a way to draw young adults closer to God during Lent through prayer and sacrifice. Like the walks organized by St. Philip, the pilgrimage has a spirit that is both prayerful and convivial.
