Catholic University of America Professor on Contraception: “To Be Someone Radiant”

March 16, 2012

With attacks on religious liberty and conscience, we Catholics are facing tremendous obstacles to living out our Faith. Once again the opportunities to share the Church’s excellent teaching on Christian Marriage are upon us – we cannot shy away from this opportunity!

It seems especially apropos to pass along to those of you discerning a vocation to the Order of Preachers (& everyone else) a recent lecture,“To Be Someone Radiant” by Fr. James Dominic Brent OP who teaches at the Catholic University of America and lives at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington DC. Take the time and investigate what the Church actually teaches and consider passing it along to help others come to understand the Church’s beautiful teaching on Christian marriage and the dignity of the human person.

Now more than ever, the Church truly needs “Champions of the Faith & True Lights of the world” to point to what is good and true and to expose what is false and evil. The Church’s teaching on contraception (Paul VI’s encyclical, Humanae Vitae) continues to be greatly misunderstood by most people to the detriment of Christian Marriage.

This post is taken from the last email I sent out to the men discerning with us. Our next vocation weekend (and last of this academic year) will be March 30-April 1, 2012.
