Bro. Innocent OP & Bro. Raphael OP in Sirius XM Radio Station in Midtown Manhattan

Yesterday I shared with you updates from our student brothers in some of the houses of the Province of St. Joseph. Fr. Gabriel Gillen OP, the radio host of “Word to Life” LIVE on Friday afternoons at 1:00 PM ET (The Catholic Channel on Sirius XM) had Bro. Innocent OP and Bro. Raphael OP as guests on the show this past Friday to discuss the Church’s celebration this Sunday of the Solemnity of Corpus Christi.

Bro. Raphael shares about his conversion story through Eucharistic Adoration. Bro. Raphael is working with the elderly this summer with the the Hawthorne Dominican Sisters in New York. Bro. Innocent who has been on the show frequently this summer, is being trained in Media by Fr. Gabriel this summer at our University Parish of St. Joseph at New York University.

Click on the image below to go to the audio link to hear the friars talk about the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. By the way, the photo of the Brothers in the studio was taken 37 floors up at the Sirus XM Studios in Midtown Manhattan (Avenue of the Americas) just across the street from Radio City Music Hall.

At the end of the show the brothers sing the O Sacrum Convivium LIVE!  Written by St. Thomas Aquinas, this beautiful hymn acknowledges the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist and is prayed by Dominican Friars whenever we begin the Divine Office in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
Original Latin:
O sacrum convivium!
in quo Christus sumitur:
recolitur memoria passionis eius:
mens impletur gratia:
et futurae gloriae nobis pignus datur.
Alleluia, Alleluia
Translation:
O sacred banquet!
in which Christ becomes our food,
the memory of his Passion is celebrated,
the souls is filled with grace,
and a pledge of future glory to us.
Alleluia, Alleluia
