A Summer of Preaching in Ohio & Profession
June 24, 2011
Greetings from Colorado! I have been enjoying my family and my relatives who are visiting from Italy. Today I head back to Washington DC and then to Ohio, Rhode Island and New Hampshire to help in our parishes for the month of July.
Recently I shared with you how our student brothers are assigned for the summer to our houses throughout our province. They are engaged in various preaching, teaching and apostolic activities.
1) First I told you about opportunities with Bro. Reginald Lynch OP who is traveling and offering talks to our 3rd Order Dominicans (Dominican Laity) in DC, PA, OH, MA, ME & NY.
2) I also shared with you about the opportunities with our friars in Kentucky at St. Louis Bertrand Parish in Louisville where Bros. John Baptist OP, Cassian OP, and Michael OP (Deacon) are assigned.
3) Bro. Leo Checkai OP will be teaching at St. Catherine of Siena parish in New York City.
If you are able to take part in any of their talks or if you would like to make a visit, please do let me know!

Our next class of men to enter novitiate will receive the habit in a closed ceremony in St. Gertrude Priory in Cincinnati on the morning of August 8, 2011 on the Feast of our Holy Father, St. Dominic. Though this ceremony is closed, it is possible to see much of what happens in our vocation video “Leaving All Things Behind” which was filmed during the vestition of last year’s novitiate class. The newly vested novices will join the Dominican & parish communities at the 11:30AM Mass for the Solemnity of Our Holy Father, St. Dominic in the church (all are welcome).
You are also most welcome to join us for the Simple Profession of the present novices also in St. Gertrude church on the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Monday, August 15, at 11:30AM, followed by a Reception in the Parish Center. All the prayers for the novices this past year have been a great source of strength for them.
